NZSAS Trust Grants
The NZSAS Trust was established to help personnel who have actively served in or been posted to the NZSAS and their dependents. A number of grants may be available in any one year to assist personnel and their families.
Who is Eligible?
Serving or retired personnel and the partners or children of a current or former member of 1 NZSAS Regiment, meaning a person who is:
- (a) directly related to the current or former member, and
- (b) wholly or in substantial part financially reliant on that member.
All eligible personnel, partners or children may apply.
Beneficiary Grants

- Spirit of New Zealand (for ages 16-18 yrs)
- Outward Bound (for ages 16+)
- Special Needs Support
- Tertiary Educational Support
- Family Welfare Support
Most family welfare and special needs support can be actioned out of Board meetings, pending the urgency and amount, and are considered year-round. All tertiary education grants are now approved once a year at our December meeting, and must be submitted by 14th November 2022. Spirit of Adventure and Outward Bound scholarships may be submitted year-round, and should include preferred course dates which are available from the relevant websites.

Borneo Scholarship
The Borneo Scholarship was specifically created to support beneficiaries in their TRADE studies. A number of Borneo Scholarships are awarded each year to worthy individuals to the amount of $3,000 per year. These individuals are then supported by the Trust for the next three years of trade studies, to a total of $9,000. Please note that any continuing support in years 2 and 3 is conditional on successful grades from the previous year.
Applications for the 2022 Borneo Scholarship must be received by the Trust Secretary no later than 14th November 2022.

Vietnam Scholarship
The Vietnam Scholarship was specifically created to support beneficiaries in their TERTIARY studies. A number of Vietnam Scholarships are awarded each year to worthy individuals to the amount of $3,000 per year. These individuals are then supported by the Trust for up to three years of tertiary studies, to a total of $9,000. Please note that any continuing support in years 2 and 3 is conditional on successful grades from the previous year.
Applications for the 2022 Vietnam Scholarship must be received by the Trust Secretary no later than 14th November 2022.
