Meet the Trustees – Geoffrey Laurence

Geoffrey has an engineering, accounting, investing and business management background. After graduating from Massey University, Palmerston North, with degrees in industrial engineering and finance he became a chartered accountant. With that as a base he worked in senior finance and management roles within NZ News, Mace and Lion Nathan through out the 1980’s until the mid 1990’s. He then established a successful investment company which focused on large supermarket real estate and has broadened to currently include NZ tourism and public company investment management.

Geoffrey has been a trustee and/or a board member of a range of small to very large not for profit and charitable organisations. These include being a board member and chair of the NZ Hockey Federation and director of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He was the first non doctor the RACP selected to be a director of this organisation of 20,000 physicians and trainees across Australasia. In 2015 he was honoured by the college as an Honorary Fellow of the RACP.

Geoffrey was in 2004 along with Stephen Franklin one of the four founding trustees of the NZSAS Trust. He had a substantial input into establishing the objectives of the trust and he has had a major role in the funding of the trust administration and special projects.
